The Loch Ness Monster

Loch Ness is a very large lake in the north of Scotland. It is 40 km long, 1.5 km wide and very very deep, as deep as 274 metres in places. Many people believe that this lake is the home of the Loch Ness Monster, but no one really knows if this is true. Some people have seen this monster, some have even taken photographs of it. But many scientists still believe that there is no monster in Loch Ness.

The people who say that they have seen the monster agree that the monster is large and grey, with a long neck and tail. In the last few years, it has only been seen in the water. Seventy years ago, it was often seen on land, too.

In 1988, Mr. and Mrs. White were driving along Loch Ness Road when they saw a very large animal crossing the road in front of them. The animal was grey and it had a very long neck and tail and four short thick legs. It was about 12 metres long. They stopped the car and ran to the lake, but the monster had already gone into the water. The water was still moving so they knew that they had seen something.

People are still spending a lot of time and money looking for it, because they believe that these stories are really true. Other people do not believe there is a monster. They think that people have only seen bits of wood or other small animals. What do you think?
